There’s Enough

So, the Abraham-Sarah-Hagar entanglement is one story chock full of lessons! Short version: God promised Abraham and Sarah a son, but as years went by and the promise wasn’t manifesting, they both had a crisis of faith, and Sarah decided to help God. She encouraged Abraham to have a child with her servant-girl Hagar. Thus, Ishmael was born.

About 13 or so years later, Sarah got pregnant and gave birth to the Son of Promise, Issac. One day, the brothers were playing around, Ishmael mocked Isaac, and it really got on Sarah’s nerve!

“So she turned to Abraham and demanded, “Get rid of that slave woman and her son. He is not going to share the inheritance with my son, Isaac. I won’t have it!” Genesis 21:10

Abraham was of course distressed by this request, but God urged him to do as Sarah asked, assuring Abraham “…I will also make a nation of the son of the bondwoman because he is your seed.” Genesis 21:13

God blessing Isaac, did not exclude Him from blessing Ismael too. God has more than enough resources, grace, and favor to go around! Don’t be jealous because God has blessed another or is blessing another. His blessings won’t get finished before He gets to you.

God blessed Isaac in Abraham’s house and blessed Ishmael out of Abraham’s house. God’s blessings will reach you wherever you are. He is a good father who cares about all His children! He’s readying Himself to bless you too; wait for it!

Blessings!
