A Good Word

I’m yet to meet a person who doesn’t like to hear encouraging words! Everybody likes to hear something nice about themselves or about something they are doing. I like compliments, I’m sure you do too and so does everyone you meet.

The Bible captures it beautifully. “Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: But a good word maketh it glad.” Proverbs 12:25. In plainer English, “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, But a good (encouraging) word makes it glad.”

Today, I want to challenge you to say something nice, kind, or sweet to someone. It can be a spouse, a child, friend, colleague or even a stranger.

I have watched our middle child evolve into a more responsible, empathetic and selfless boy over the last year. I make it a point to tell him often, how proud I am of him and how grateful I am for all he does. I want to encourage him to feel good about the person he’s growing into and also to push him to do even more and better.

Kind words bring the best out of people. We don’t always have to find fault or make people earn kind words. People around us are dealing with so much more than we can imagine and a kind word can go a long way to make a difference. There’s enough going on in our world to make people anxious, afraid, depressed and sorrowful.

Be the source of comfort to someone today, assuage their fears and insecurities with a good word! As you do it to others, may someone also do it to you!

Blessings!

Love, Lady Monica ❤

Whenever I relocate to a new area, the first I so is look for a church. I moved to Worcester, MA in 2015 and had an occasion to meet a member of FFMI (High Str). Upon attending and meeting Pastor Monica Aryitey, I found her to be the sweetest and most pleasant First Ladies I’ve met in over 30 years. It’s now 2021 and I still maintain a relationship with “Lady Monica” as she is affectionately called. There’s nothing I’ve asked of her where she has not provided assistance/advice. Whether it be medical, financial, legal and spiritual issues, she’s always available. She’s quite the “Lady Monica” and I hold her in high esteem. It’s good to have someone you can depend on; I appreciate her so much. She is my true friend.
