I’m Not Happy

Preaching in Nineveh and having the whole big city turn to God en mass was probably Jonah’s biggest success in ministry. Yet he wasn’t happy about going there. Jonah 4:1-4. He ended up going because God didn’t leave him with a choice.

As Christians, we may not always like or be happy with what God is asking us to do. Sometimes we wish God will give us an alternative or allow us to what we find easy to do. However if we belong to God’s family then we should be prepared to do things we don’t want to do; don’t feel like doing or are not happy about doing.

You may not be happy about forgiving that person who hurt you so badly but God says forgive as many times as needed. You may not be happy about holding your tongue but God says don’t let unwholesome talk come out of your mouth. You can’t stand that guy sitting next to you but God says you gotta love him! He just lied about you and you’re not happy but God says pray for him.

All this is for our own good. God needed to change Jonah’s heart and so made him go to Nineveh to preach though he didn’t like the people and didn’t think they deserved salvation!

God wants to change your heart; He wants to help you live a fulfilling and productive life as a REAL Christian. He wants you to grow and mature as a Christian and so expects you to obey His commandments even if you’re not happy about doing them.

Is there anything you should be doing that you’re not doing because you’re not happy about doing it? Today is a good day to start doing it.

Blessings.

Love, Lady Monica ❀

Very well said! Indeed, God is faithful and true to His word. We need to continue to trust and obey without a doubt. πŸ’―πŸ™πŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎ
