Hidden

God hates sin, we all know that. We also know that God freely forgives sin. We know that to obtain this free forgiveness, we must first confess our sins. For us to confess our sins, we must know them.

David makes us understand that there is a category of sin known as hidden sins. He defines these as sins we commit that we don’t know we commit. He says, “But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults.” Psalms 19:12

Hidden sins can be either of two-sins we are not aware of or sins we are aware of which we commit in secret that no one knows of. Known or unknown, all are sins that displease God and left unconfessed, sully our relationship with Him.

God has made clear to us from His word what sin is. He has given us the Holy Spirit who constantly convicts us of sin. Do well to pay attention to those things you do, say, or think about that leave you feeling “funny”. That’s the Holy Spirit’s way of checking you and pushing you away from the darkness of sin!

Hidden sins hurt your relationship with others too. They can be costly and draining. They are only hidden from you or others but not from God though.

Ask God to cut you open today and take away all your hidden sins, the ones unknown to you. Go further and ask Him to liberate you from the sins you commit in secret which you only know about, so you can live freely before Him. David again: ” When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long.” Psalms 32:3. You certainly don’t want to live like this!

Blessings!
