He Decided

He found himself in a foreign land with values and a belief system opposed to his. He worshiped God, they worshipped idols. He didn’t go there voluntarily but was forcibly taken from his homeland.

In spite of these less than ideal circumstances, he was determined not to get corrupted by his new environment. So “… Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile (taint, dishonor) himself with the king’s finest food or with the wine which the king drank;…” Daniel 1:8

Because he was determined to honor God and not water down his beliefs due to his circumstances, God also honored Daniel. First, his request to abstain from what the king had ordered was approved.

Second, though Daniel (and his friends) followed a less nutritious diet, they came out much stronger than those who indulged in the kingly diet.

Third, Daniel stood out among his peers; God endowed him with unparalleled wisdom and an excellent spirit.

It all began with a decision Daniel took to stay on the Lord’s side! Decisions can take us out of God’s will; they can make or unmake us.

Decisions are part of our everyday lives; they’re unavoidable. I pray that when you’re faced with a choice especially one that can alter the trajectory of your life, you will have the courage to make the right decision. When your decisions honor God, you can be sure He’ll go to bat for you.

Blessings
