Don’t Settle

Hannah’s story reads like a fairy tale. It started out rocky and ended “happily ever after”. I’m pretty sure you are all familiar with the story so here’s just a brief recap.

She was dearly loved by her husband but she was barren. She also had a very fertile rival who mocked her to no end.

One day, as Hannah was beside herself with sorrow, feeling miserable and crying over Peninah’s meanness and insensitivity, her husband offered some comforting words.

“Why are you crying, Hannah?” Elkanah would ask. “Why aren’t you eating? Why be downhearted just because you have no children? You have me—isn’t that better than having ten sons?” 1 Samuel 1:8

That was enough to melt any wife’s heart but not Hannah’s. She knew deep down that there was something more, better, and greater for her beyond Elkannah’s undying love.

So Hannah pushed past those sweet words and went for God’s best for her. Like Hannah, don’t settle for what seems good when you can have better. Don’t settle for better when you can have best. Go for God’s ultimate for you, not what seems good to others or even to you.

The son God gave to Hannah was worth more than anything Elkannah could have offered her. Ask for God’s best.

Blessings!

Love, Lady Mo ❤️
