Stop. Look. Listen

Life is busy. Some days it is go, go, go from the moment I wake up till I finally lay down to sleep. Sometimes we just rush through the day and it seems everyone else is rushing too. All we hear are the sounds of traffic lights, horns, scurrying feet and people jostling for space. All we see are looming deadlines, benchmarks that need to be met, appointments that must be kept, etc.

Then there are other people who make demands on our time: kids, spouses, parents, other dependents, etc. Beyond the sounds of busy-ness are other sounds drowned out by the former. We easily miss those because we are consumed by the issues of life. These other sounds give comfort, assurance and draw attention to the beauty and awe around us. These other sounds beckon us to the peace, quiet and the awesome wonder of our Lord.

In Psalm 19:1-4, the author takes time to draw our attention towards this. It says: “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world…”

Yes, all around us the glory of God is being revealed daily but we often miss it because we are tuned in to the troubles and chaos all around. We must take time today and every day to appreciate what God has done and doing for us! We will find much peace and calm if we will just stop, look and listen.

Blessings!
Love, Lady Monica. ❤
