One Hundred

When God called Moses to deliver His chosen people from Egypt, He told the latter right off the bat that He had prepared a land for them. Throughout the five books of Moses, God kept repeating to the Israelites that He would settle them in the Promised Land.

After some forty years, they finally arrived in the land. The land was occupied. Nonetheless, God had promised it to them. The first city they had to conquer was Jericho, which was fortified by high and impregnable walls.

“Now Joshua, the son of Nun sent out two men from Acacia Grove to spy secretly, saying, “Go, view the land, especially Jericho.” ….” Joshua 2:1 NKJV

Some have argued that this move by Joshua signified a lack of faith. God had promised them the land and was going to give it them anyway, so there was no point for Joshua to send spies.

I disagree. Joshua, being the warrior that he was, employed what he saw was a good military strategy. He didn’t know how God was going to deliver the city into their hands, so he prepared while waiting on God.

Be one hundred percent dependable on God and be one hundred percent responsible, too.

While waiting for God to manifest His promises in your life, exercise wisdom and put in the needed work.

The spies returned with a report that confirmed God’s promise. No harm in that!
