It’s That Simple

My church started a favorite scripture challenge called “keeping the word at the center”, to help us maintain the right perspective in this crisis period. We shoot videos of ourselves talking about our favorite scriptures and the media team puts them out on Social Media. It has been quite a hit! When I asked my kids to record their favorite scriptures, the older one went straight for John 3:16. I said “nope that’s too simple, pick another one”. He settled on John 14:6 which really relates to John 3:16. 🤔. “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6 I am musing on the simplicity of John 3:16 this morning. It says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” It is a simple but loaded scripture. It is probably the first scripture every Christian kid memorizes. Most of us can rattle it in our sleep. It is a simple but deep verse. It sums up all of the Gospel; it tells us of God’s heart towards His creation. If there is one scripture we need more now than ever it is John 3:16. With people perishing in droves; with more ominous predictions coming our way; with words like “surge”, “critical”, “dangerous” bouncing off our TV screens, we need to remember that God loves us. That He first loved us and sent His only son to rescue us. We need to remember that we are precious to Him and He will set things right for our sake. Most importantly, it is a good time to share John 3:16 with friends, colleagues, strangers and ask if they know Jesus! We may not know what is coming down the line but knowing the One who knows all things helps a great deal! Share Jesus with someone today!
Blessings!
