For Just One

So many songs have been written about God’s (Jesus’) love for us. Words like “unexplainable”, “indescribable”, ” unconditional” and “unchangeable”, among many have be used to describe it. There is a little song that says God’s love “…is so high, you can’t get over it; it’s so deep, you can’t get under it; it’s so wide, you can’t get around it…”. That about sums it up, I think.

Sometimes it is hard to look at yourself, where you are, where you have been, what you have done and believe that Jesus loves you. However the Bible is replete with stories and parables that demonstrate Jesus love for us- not us as a group of people but you and I as individuals. In His eyes no one person is more important than the other.

In the parables of the lost sheep and lost coin (Luke 15) Jesus illustrated the importance of just one. What would make a person go after one lost sheep when he still has ninety-nine safe in their pen? He was as concerned about a single one as he was about the others. Such concern was borne out of nothing but love. Usually when we have a lot, we do not lose sleep over just one. That is not the case with our Lord Jesus.

In John 20, we are told Jesus appeared to His disciples as they were together in a locked room. Thomas was not with them. When he returned, the disciples excitedly told him they had seen Jesus. Doubting Thomas said there was no way he would believe Jesus was alive unless he saw Him and touched His wounds. Eight days later, as the disciples gathered again, this time with Thomas present, Jesus showed Himself again. “Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side…” v. 27.

Jesus came back just for Thomas’ sake. He loved Thomas enough, He cared about Thomas and his faith enough to return for him. Each of us are important to God; He says He has engraved His people in the palm of His hands, meaning we are continually before Him. If you ever doubt God’s love for you remember Calvary, Golgotha and the Cross.

Live today in the assurance that nothing can change the way God feels about you. Let nothing separate you from His love. He will do anything for just one of us.

Blessings.

Love,
Lady Monica.❤
