WHO?

There is a reason why we cannot allow people to define us. People look at you from a very limited perspective and draw conclusions about you. They will define you by your circumstances, your history, your actions and even your speech. They catch only a glimpse of who you are and use that to define you .

Jesus did an experiment about His identity from others’ perspective and got some interesting answers. “… he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.” Matthew 16:13‭-‬14.

They looked at how He preached, the miracles He performed, how He prophesied and based on these decided on who He was. Jesus preached with moxy so He must be John the Baptist incarnate. He did some amazing miracles so well, He must be Elijah 2.0 as he also did some mind-blowing miracles. Jesus prophesied with His eyes open too so surely He was one of the prophets returned from the dead.

How wrong they all were. Jesus was way more that what He said or did and because they mis-identified Him they failed to receive Him as they should. He was God Himself dwelling among them in human form but they completely missed that.

So are you more than what you have said or what you have done. You are so much more than the victories you have had and the failures you have experienced. You are made in the image and likeness of God and whether people realize it or not that will never change. You are the redeemed of the Lord, purchased by the precious blood of Christ. This is the only identity that matters and when you get this into your heart and your head, you will begin to look at yourself and at the world differently, and who others say you are will not matter as much!

Blessings.
