Just Maybe

My church just finished its annual leadership conference, i-ADVANCE, last weekend and it was beyond amazing; it was a “festival of knowledge” indeed and so much was poured into us. Our main speaker mentioned one of my favorite scriptures in passing and I find myself drawn to it again this morning.

You may know Jonathan the son of King Saul as David’s BFF who did all he could to protect David from his jealous and murderous father. He was a pretty bold guy, unafraid of his father the king and stood up to him many times in defense of David! You may also know of the long standing enmity between the Philistines and the Israelites and the many battles they fought against each other. Most of the time the Philistines had superior weaponry, well trained armies and had the numbers too.

One day Jonathan arose and said to his armor bearer “… “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised [Philistines]; it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.” I Samuel 14:6. So they went into the camp of the Philistines. Between the two of them they killed twenty Philistines with the help of God and the others began to ran away in fear.

Jonathan did not have any sophisticated weapons or a troop with him. He was only armed by his faith and trust in God. Some may say his move was reckless as he seemed to foolishly put himself and his armor bearer in harm’s way. He was not even one hundred percent sure that God would come through for him but he was confident and bold enough trust in God’s help. Maybe was good enough for him.

He disregarded the terrain (mountainous) and the sheer numbers of the Philistine army. He clearly saw all the disadvantages but chose to focus on God.

You do not always have to wait till you are one hundred percent sure of a step before you make a move. After all that is what faith is all about. Sometimes you just have to step out believing that God will go with you! So go ahead and start that business, pick up the admission form, make that transfer! If you want to advance you have to take a step. You have prayed enough, now give God something to work with!

Blessings.Love, Lady Monica!❤
