I Declare…

In Numbers 16, a group of people led a rebellion against Moses and Aaron as they were taking the people of Israel to the Promised Land. They questioned Aaron’s leadership. God gave Moses some steps to follow to assure the people He had chosen Aaron’s as leader. That still did not end the murmuring as they went on to question whether Moses was really taking them to the land “filled with milk and honey”. Moses then declared against the ringleaders of the rebellion: “But if the Lord creates a new thing, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the pit, then you will understand that these men have rejected the Lord . Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods.” Verses 30-32. What struck me was the fact that Moses declared their punishment and God honored it. It was not God who decided on His own to mete out that kind of punishment to them! God did not tell Moses to tell the rebels He was going to let the earth swallow them. Moses declared and God honored it. How can we get to the point where we can be sure that God will honor the words we speak? It takes a certain level of access and relationship to give us the kind of confidence Moses had to make such a bold declaration. We are blessed because through Jesus we have access to God. It is up to us, with the help of the Holy Ghost, to build an intimate relationship with God to gain that kind of confidence. It also takes obedience, walking in God’s purposes, living right and being within His will. Through Christ we are even in a far more better place than Moses was. Let us take advantage of what we have and get closer to God so that we can declare healing, deliverance, prosperity, good things over our children, our nation, or lives; over anything and believe He will honor our words.
Blessings.
