Go Boldly

Esther, wife of King Xerxes, queen of the Persian Empire is our muse today! While living in the palace and enjoying all the royal perks, Haman, one of the king’s nobles was plotting to have all Jews in the empire annihilated. Haman had succeeded in getting a decree passed to that effect. He was annoyed that Mordecai, Queen Esther’s cousin would not bow to him as commanded. Terrified, Mordecai requested the queen to go to the king and beg for mercy for the Jews of whom she was one!

Not only did the law forbid the queen to go before the king without being summoned, she had hidden her nationality and the king did not know she was a Jew. She was a slave girl sitting on the throne as queen of the most powerful empire in the world at the time. So, not only did she risk being killed for approaching the king uninvited, she could also be killed for concealing or lying about her nationality!

What’s a girl to do? She devised a plan: “Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”Esther 4:15‭-‬16. Go girl!!!

God indeed listened and granted her favor before the king. She was not killed, her people were spared and Haman assassinated for his evil plot.

Do you sometimes hesitate to ask God for some things?. Maybe you think it is too big or not sensible or because you just wonder if God will even do it?. So you just forget it and move on miserably? Well, as Jesus told the disciples if we who are evil give good things to our children, how much more our father in heaven? Jesus also said that if we ask anything in His name, God will do it! He offers us a blank check and gives us the chance to write in any amount so what’s with the hesitation?

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

Whatever help you need, God is willing and able to give to you. So put in some prayer and fasting too, if you must, and go boldly to ask for that position, that promotion, that raise, that job, that loan! God is on your side and is able to turn the “king’s heart” in your favor!

Blessings!
