Unmoved

I know it’s Christmas season but the Cross is on my mind. Jesus on the Cross. We are told that two thieves were crucified with Him, one on each side. As Jesus hung there in unimaginable excruciating pain, passers-by, the chief priests, the Scribes, and the elders mocked him, taunting Jesus to come down from the cross and save Himself, if He was indeed the son of God.

“Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.” Luke 23:39. Jesus paid His mockers no mind. If it was me I’d probably have come off the cross just to prove a point and then asked them to nail me back up.

You’ve got to admire Jesus’ composure though. He was focused on His assignment and no amount of ridicule was going to sway Him off course. Reminds me of the saying that if you’re going to stop and cast a stone at every stray dog that barks at you, you’ll never get to your destination. Jesus’ assignment was too big; too much was at stake for him to focus on the noise around Him.

As we prepare to meet the new year, may God grant us the grace to stay focused, refuse to be distracted by the many distractions, drown out the cacophony and remain steadfast as we pursue what God has asked of us.

What are your plans for 2022? Whatever they are you’ll need the Jesus kind of grace to fulfill them!

Blessings.

Love, Lady Monica ❤️
