Perfect Memory
Do you sometimes walk into a room or even a store and forget what you went there for? Or you meet someone who is obviously excited to see you and you have zero recollection of where you know her/him from?
I remember once reconnecting with an elementary school mate on Facebook. We chatted for a while and I remarked that it was good to chat with him decades after after leaving school. Then he reminded me that we saw each other in college and he actually visited me in my dorm. I could not remember that. I felt so bad and well, the conversations cooled after that.
Thankfully God is not like you and I. He has perfect memory. He never forgets His promises to us and never forgets our prayers. God hears all we tell and ask Him and He answers them at the right time. I know sometimes though it does seem like He has forgotten us or does not have us on His radar. Not so! I know we have issues with His timing sometimes (or most of the time, if you like), but His seeming silence is no indicator of forgetfulness.
Noah must have felt forgotten as the rains poured down endlessly and flood waters swelled and swirled round the ark. But when the time was right “God remembered Noah”. Zechariah must have felt forgotten too. For years, he must have prayed for a son yet year after year no answer came till both he and his wife Elizabeth were well advanced in age. Then out of nowhere, it seemed, God answered his prayer ( Luke 1:13). He finally had his child and what a child John was!
God is not a man that He should lie, right? So in case you are still in doubt, let me produce God’s own words spoken through the prophet Isaiah: ““Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you.” (Isaiah 49:15) So there you have it! God never forgets, His memory is beyond excellent. Just wait for Him.
Blessings!
