I Need Thee

“I need thee every hour
Most gracious God
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford.
I need Thee O I need Thee
Every hour I need Thee
O bless me now my Saviour
I come to Thee”

This hymn is a powerful declaration of dependence and l love it. The key to a successful Christian walk is dependence on God. Jesus likened it to the relationship between the vine and its branches. He said as long as the branch remains attached to the vine it will live, thrive and bear fruit. The opposite will lead result in a fruitless, withered and dead branch. The branch must therefore necessarily depend on the vine to fulfill its purpose-bearing fruit.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 NIV.

We must fully depend on God in order to be fruitful and live a fulfilling Christian life. Without staying connected to Him, we will get tired, feel dejected and give up altogether. Jesus said we have been chosen to bear fruit, fruit that last (John 15:16). As is His nature God gives us the instruction and then provides the help we need to a accomplish it. So He tells us to bear fruit and shows us how-by depending on Him.

Indeed apart from Him we cannot flourish as God’s children. We stay connected to God through constant prayer, studying the word and fellowshipping with our fellow dependents.

While on earth Jesus had to fully depend on God in order to accomplish the purpose for which He came. He took time out to pray and called on God to help Hom perform miracles. When the Pharisees hassled Him for working on the Sabbath, He answered them by declaring His dependence on God as being the authority by which He worked. “Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” John 5:19. His continuing dependence on God ensured the success of His ministry.

We can depend on Him for anything and everything; for healing, provision, protection, etc. Make your life easier by fully depending on God.

Blessings.

Lady Monica.❤
