Crablike

You have probably heard about crabs in a lidless bucket. Leave a bunch of crabs in a bucket, go to bed and you will wake up to find all of them just as you left them. If you leave just one it will have no trouble escaping, multiply the number and none will get out. It is not because they so love it inside the bucket but it is because they keep pulling any who attempts to get out right back down. Instead of pushing the one trying to go up to successfully reach the top, they bring it down.
As Christians, we are told to help each other up, to build up and not tear down one another. There is no place in our lives for mentality of “if I can’t have it then neither can you”. God has blessed us with varied gifts and talents and wants each of us to shine ever so brightly. There is enough space for everyone to shine. You do not need to dim another’s light for yours to be visible.
Paul to the Romans: “Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.” Romans 15:2. Some will always get to the top first or faster than others. As you get there, pull someone else up. Some will be stronger, more zealous, more confident than others and as you are going up, pull someone along with you. “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11. The apostle goes on to encourage the Thessalonians to “…always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.”
It is good Christian behavior to think of others, wish the best for them and help them to go up in life. Selfishness is not a welcome attitude, it is destructive and unattractive. Queen Esther used her position to secure the lives of a whole nation of people. She did not get so comfortable in the palace as to forget those who needed her help most. As more people in our families, churches, communities reach the top; reach their full potential; get more comfortable in life and prosper, we all thrive. Purpose to eschew the crab mentality and determine to build up and not tear down. Blessings.Love, Lady Monica ❤
