Be Happy

I bet you have heard the saying “laughter is a good medicine”? It was probably culled from the Bible! “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” says Proverbs 17:22. There is also a humorous song I heard as a kid titled “Don’t worry, be happy”. The singer, Bobby McFerrin, lists a number of issues that should ordinarily make us worry and says in spite of all that “don’t worry be happy”. The line I find interesting is the one that says “In every life we have some trouble but when you worry you make it double. Don’t worry, be happy…”.There is truth in there.

We can always find a reason to worry, be sad, be anxious, be down on ourselves and be miserable. You may have a crappy job or no job at all; you may have failed an exam or been kicked out of school; anxious over your children, no food, no place to sleep, not sure how to pay your rent, dealing with sicknesses! The lists goes on and on. In the midst of all this we are encouraged to keep a cheerful heart, because it is good medicine and the opposite dries up the bones.

We must make the effort to tap into God’s joy for strength since worry never does anyone any good anyway. If we will rise above all these problems and issues of life we must learn to be joyful irrespective of our circumstances. If you look deep enough you will find a reason to be happy. The best part according to our text for today is that being cheerful is a sure way to cut down the cost of medication, hospital visits and co-pays!!

Do well to incorporate laughter in your day today no matter how bleak it looks and make someone laugh too! God will provide grace!

Blessings!

Love, Lady Mo.😁❤
