The power of tithing

Malachi. 3:6-11 9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, this whole nation! 10 Bring all the tithes (the tenth) into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you [so great] a blessing until there is no more room to receive it. 11 Then I will rebuke the devourer (insects, plague) for your sake and he will not destroy the fruits of the ground, nor will your vine in the field drop its grapes [before harvest],” says the Lord of hosts.

Tithing is fundamental in scripture and is predicated on the Law of the First Thing, the Principle of the First Thing and under the auspices of the Law of Honor. Tithing is not only a commandment of the Old Testament but also of the New. The Bible is in two parts-The Old Testament and the New Testament and Jesus who came to die for our sake said both of God’s testaments come into culmination in him. (Matthew 5:17).

We tithe because it is a command from God and must be obeyed. (Leviticus 27:30-34). Giving one tenth of your income as your tithe will sanctify the whole and make it holy. If the first fruits are holy then the rest is holy. Your tithe is an evidence of your growing faith, it connotes self-disciple. Being disciplined in tithing is also evidence that God can trust you with His resources and is also an act of worship unto God. (Proverbs 3:9-10)

Tithing provides divine insurance against satanic encroachment and gives you divine provision. The discipline of tithing frees you up as you do it consistently and allows your grace of generosity to develop. Paying your tithe consistently will grant you access to open heavens as you contribute into God’s kingdom. (Malachi 3:12)Your Refusal to tithe is an act of dishonor to God and can be seen as a rebellion to God’s commandment. (Malachi 3:10) but obeying God’s commandment on tithing has many benefits. In Genesis 14:17-18, When Abraham gave a Tithe to Melchizedek, he received the blessing of a son Isaac, a revelation and divine encounter from God. (Genesis 15:1-6). When you tithe, the name of Lord will be great in your life. (Malachi 1:11), God arises against all who arise against you. He will rebuke the devourer for your sake (Malachi 3:11). You will have victory over injustice (Malachi 3:5). You shall become His treasured possession and you shall enjoy the sun of righteousness. Tithing will give you order in your finances as God will rebuke every devourer and give you peace in your finances. (Malachi 3:11)

Without a deep love for God, you may struggle to practice tithing; it takes true love for God to be a good tither. (Matthew 22:27).
