On Time
We call Him Jehovah Jireh, God our provider, among many other names. This name was introduced in Genesis 22. God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac as a burnt offering unto Him. Without hesitation Abraham obeyed, took his son, a few servants and what he needed for the sacrifice. After a three day journey they got closer to the place for the sacrifice; Abraham left the servants behind, took Isaac, the wood and the fire and headed to the designated place.
On the way, the curious Isaac, realizing that the essential element for the sacrifice was missing asked his father where the lamb for the sacrifice was. Abraham responded “… “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.”…” Genesis 22:8. Abraham did not just glibly throw out that answer to silence Isaac, he actually believed God would provide a way for him to receive Isaac back even if he sacrificed him. (Hebrews 11:19)
That thought got him through what must have been a tormented journey to Moriah. Abraham had three days to think about what he was about to do but the thought that God was able to provide a way to get Isaac back kept him going.
As the narrative goes, Abraham prepared the altar, tied up Isaac, placed him on it, lifted the knife to kill him and then God intervened, stopped him and provided a ram for the sacrifice. Right on time! Abraham named the place “the Lord will provide”.
God always provides just at the right time. We can call Him “the on-time” God and it will be appropriate. Whatever you are praying for or waiting on God for, He will provide; it is just a matter of time. He may not always provide in the way you expect but He surely will provide. Abraham thought God would provide by raising Isaac back from the dead, but God provided by making available a ram for the sacrifice. I want to encourage you to keep trusting in God’s ability to provide even if the answer has been long in coming! He will surely provide!Blessings.
