Unashamed

It’s not exactly popular to be a Christian these days right?. Well, it’s not new. The early Christians suffered all manner of persecutions for their faith too. I actually think we have it easy. Most of us will never be fed to lions, crucified upside down, shot at or boiled in hot oil for being Christians.

At worst, we’ll be laughted at, ridiculed, endure name-calling, be shunned or looked at funny. What’s the worst that can happen to you when your co-workers, bosses, customers, clients find out you’re a Christian? What kind of suffering will you face for living out your faith at work, school or wherever it is you spend your time?

The Apostle Peter tells us how to handle such suffering. “Don’t be ashamed to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God that you belong to him.” 1 Peter 4:16. He’s saying to us that it’s actually a privilege to suffer for belonging to God. I mean if your only crime and the cause of your suffering is being a Christian, well then you’re good. This is one crime I’m happy to be guilty of unashamedly.

The next time someone makes you “suffer” because you’re a follower of Christ, respond by praising God for the opportunity to suffer for Him. It’s a blessing! Don’t let anyone try to shame for being a Christian. Live your faith out loud!!!

Blessings!

Love, Lady Monica ❤️
