The Box
A box is “a container with a flat base and sides, typically square or rectangular and having a lid.” There is only so much you can fit in a box; however big the box there is still a limit on what you can fit in it. A box contains and keeps safe. Sometimes we put ourselves in boxes and put limits on ourselves; we draw lines and tell ourselves we can only go so far. That is bad but what is worse is that we put God in a box too.
We design a box and place Him in it. We know He can do all things and He is limitless; there is nothing beyond His reach and His doing, yet we limit Him in our minds and with our boxes. We know that “In His hand are the deep places of the earth; The heights of the hills are His also. The sea is His, for He made it; And His hands formed the dry land.” Psalms 95:4-5. Yet we make Him so small. As we magnify our problems, our anxieties, our sicknesses, issues with our children and spouses, our financial troubles, etc we make Him shrink; He becomes so small in our eyes. We forget He can and will help us through all these.
If only we will take the lid off that box we can begin to experience His bigness. This what God said of Himself: “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me? Jeremiah 32:27. The answer is no! I am willing to take Him at His word, are you? Ephesians 3:20 captures it even more beautifully; it says God “is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,”
Let us blow the lid of the box and watch God explode in all areas of our lives. Blessings.
