Stretched

The beautiful Ms. Rebecca. She grabs her jar and makes her way to the well as usual as the house is running low on water. A couple of trips will do. Humming her favorite tune she bounces delightfully along the path. (Gen 24)

She gets to the well and sees a man lurking about, he has about ten camels with him. He approaches her and Rebecca smiles at him. Daddy taught her to be nice to strangers. The man politely asks her for a drink of water and she obliges. She notices the camels look thirsty too.

She does a quick calculation in her mind and realizes it will take hundreds of gallons to satisfy these animals. She is alone and has only one pitcher. However, she just can’t walk away without watering the camels.

So she starts drawing water for the animals. The ten camels will need about 200 gallons, her pitcher can hold 10 so that means 20 trips back and forth to the well.

It’s going to be tough, it will require great stamina and strength. It will stretch her but from the moment she thought about helping, she was committed. Half way through, she feels exhausted but she made a commitment so keeps going till all the animals have drunk their fill. Phew.

We will all be stretched at some point in our walk with Christ. Your faith will be stretched in so many ways than you can imagine. Will you give up when the answer to your prayers delay? Will you throw down your pitcher when you realize the walk of faith is more than you bargained for? In those moments when you feel stretched, may God send His Angels to strengthen you. Remember James 1:2-3, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance” James 1:2‭-‬3

Hold on and keep pressing on, the God of all grace will come to your aid!

Blessings!

Love, Lady Monica ❤️
