Remember!

The feeding of the five thousand is a popular story. That was not the only time Jesus miraculously fed thousands of people with next to nothing. There was the four thousand too. After He had taught the crowd, Jesus felt compassion for them because they’d had nothing to eat. Worried that they would faint from hunger on their way home if they didn’t feed them before dismissing them, He expressed His concern to the twelve.

With doubtful looks and sighs, the disciples once again responded “… “Where will anyone be able to find enough bread here in this isolated place to feed these people?” Mark 8:4

Alas! They had forgotten that Jesus had previously fed five thousand plus people with a paltry five loaves and two fishes. Well, Jesus asked the disciples to bring what they had and from seven loaves and a few small fish this time, Jesus produced enough to feed the crowd and had left overs of course.

Oh how we easily forget what God did in the past when we face present challenges. If He did it before, He can do it again right? Whenever I find myself doubting whether God hears, cares; whether He will come through for me, I boost my faith by recalling past miracles and answered prayers.

Then I remind myself that God is the same as He was back then: same loving, compassionate, merciful and gracious God!

I know God has done something for you in the past. Although some things are delaying and though He seems to turn a deaf ear to your prayers, remember the miracles of the past; how He came through for you before and let that boost your spirit!
