Overruled

We all love Abraham. He’s called the father of faith. He’s firmly positioned in the Hebrews 11 Hall of Faith. God made a covenant with Abraham to make him the father of nations and it came to pass.

God spoke to him audibly, visited his tent. God even discussed His plans for Sodom with Abraham, giving him the chance to convince God to spare his nephew Lot and his family!

We also know Abraham did some things that were not exactly godly. Twice he lied about his wife being his sister because he didn’t quite trust God could protect him, and even got other people into trouble with God. He went along with Sarah’s ungodly idea to have a substitute child with her maid Hagar, because they didn’t trust that God would give them a child as promised.

Yet, in spite of these mistakes, God did not abort His plan for Abraham. In fact after Ismail (Hagar’s son) was born outside of God’s plan, God still reiterated His promise to Abraham. “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” Genesis 17:1‭-‬2

All I’m saying is God’s purpose is super important to Him. His purpose will override and overrule your mistakes, misteps, faithlessness, etc. Nothing you do will ever alter God’s purpose for you. However far you have strayed, you only need to come back to God and He’ll put you back on the path to purpose!

Blessings!
