Just A Boat?

It was the morning after a disappointing night of fishing. The fishermen left their boats on the edge of the water as they mended their nets nearby. The boats lazily bobbed up and down; they weren’t of much use at that moment. They had a day off since their owners had caught no fish. Maybe they’d be of more use tomorrow.

Nearby, the Savior of the world was preaching to a throng! The crowd kept pressing in on Him till there was hardly any room for him to move! “Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there.” Luke 5:3

Just like that the ordinary boat had found another use! Everyone expected it to carry its owners to sea and carry a load of fish back to shore. I mean the boat’s use was pretty set. Everyone knew what the boat was for! Yet Jesus gave it a new purpose. It was more than a fishing boat-it had become a platform for the Master’s use! That boat would never be the same again and no one would ever look at it the same way again.

Don’t limit yourself to what you’re used to. Don’t look at yourself only through the eyes of your past or your history. There’s more in and to you. I want to encourage you to change the way you look at yourself and what you have.

Allow Jesus to step into your boat and you’ll never be the same again. His presence in Peter’s boat changed it forever and His presence in your life can, will and should change you. There’s so much more to you than you know. Give the Master full control and you’d be surprised by what you discover about you and your purpose! You’re not just a boat!

Blessings!
