Experience Him

If you are a Christian, chances are someone brought you to Christ. A parent, a sib, a friend, maybe a preacher. Someone was involved in your conversion.

The citizens of the town of Sychar got to know about Jesus thanks to the notorious Samaritan woman. She had a strange but beautiful encounter with our Lord that opened her eyes and heart in ways she hadn’t experienced before.

She ran back into town, told everyone she had met a man who was probably the Messiah. Many came to believe in Jesus and urged Him to stay with them. He did for two days and they were so convicted by His teachings that many more believed.

“They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”
John 4:42

Your faith can only grow and be sustained with a personal, intimate knowledge of Christ. If your belief in Him is based on what someone told you, you haven’t even scratched the surface of what it means to be a Christian. These guys detained Jesus, fed on His teachings and received more than the woman’s testimony could give them.

Challenge yourself this year to dig deeper, look farther, open yourself up wider and receive more from Christ so you can discover other dimensions of God. Otherwise, your growth will be stunted and you will give up somewhere along the line. The year is still young, make some plans to draw more from Christ!
