Be Intentional

My word for the year is “intentional”. I have been thinking a lot about it and looking into the parts of my life where I need to be more intentional.

Intentional means “done on purpose; deliberate.”. Synonyms include deliberate, calculated, conscious, intended, planned, meant, studied, knowing, willful,  purposeful, purposive, done on purpose, premeditated, preplanned, preconceived.

We all have dreams and hopes. We all have an idea (written or unwritten) of where we want to get to, what we want to become. It is necessary that we have a plan to “get there”. For instance if you want to become a doctor or a nurse there are prerequisites you must fulfill; same goes for every other career you want to pursue. If you want to become a business owner, there are steps you need to take to make that happen. Basically nothing in life just happens. Even if you are born with a talent you must hone it routinely and on a regular basis if you want that talent to be fully developed and be a blessing to you and others.

Our father God is intentional. He purposefully took His time to form us. He did not just throw mud at a wall and man came out! He meticulously created man for a purpose.
“Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky… So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”Genesis 1:26‭-‬27.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
Psalm 139:13. God also planned our redemption right from the beginning of time. From Genesis to the resurrection, we see the plan unfold step by step till its execution.

We must follow God’s blue print. Your spiritual growth will not just happen; good responsible kids will not just happen; better financial state will not just happen; good marriages will not just happen; relationships will just happen; church growth will not just happen; a healthy weight will not just happen. Nothing worth of celebration will just happen. So it behooves us to think, plan and execute our plans. God is always ready and willing to help us. Purpose today to be intentional.
