How’s Your Seeking?

“After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:1‭-‬2

There’s no doubt that as Christians we are all seeking Jesus. What I want to draw our minds to this morning is the quality of our seeking. We must seek or pursue Christ daily in our walk with Him. We seek Him through prayer, studying the word and worshipping with our fellow believers. Our seeking or pursuit must be diligent and intentional. We cannot pursue our relationship with Jesus based on our feelings, at our convenience, depending on our mood, our bank account, the weather, the status of our lives.

God rewards those who diligently seek Him; He reveals Himself to those who seek Him with all their hearts. Those who enjoy this walk with God are the ones who seek Him purposefully.

Let’s take a cue from the wise men. They were not Jews, they had no reason to go look for Jesus. They didn’t even see Him as their King but the still went to seek Him. They knew the baby Jesus was not just an ordinary child and they realized the need to go render worship. They traveled from afar, they endured the vagaries of the weather, they traveled for months or even a year just to find the son of God.

How do you pursue Jesus? How is your relationship with Him? Is He someone you call on when you’re in trouble? Do you call on Him only when you have a need? How often do you talk to Him? How often do you read His word? How often do you come into His presence?

These are questions to ponder over as we get ready to enter the new year. Let’s be determined to be more intentional and dedicated in our seeking.

Blessings.
Love, Lady Monica
