Pray Big
Do you sometimes confidently ask God to do something for you and then sit back and think maybe that was too big a request? Or maybe you list your prayer requests, assess them then draw lines across the ones you think are too big, too ridiculous or too much? Or maybe you step up boldly to ask and then chicken out right before you ask or you ask but your voice drops a few decibels because you are not really sure if God will not just laugh at your request.
Whichever category you fall within, God encourages us to come before His throne of grace boldly. Hebrews 4:16. Throughout the bible we see so many people receiving mind-blowing miracles because they dared to ask them of Jesus. The moment they saw or heard Jesus was passing by, they asked for a miracle.
Blind Bartimaeus could have asked for a few coins from Jesus but instead he asked for something he had never asked of any human being. He had heard of the power Jesus contained and of how He generously gave to others. So he figured he would ask for something big. He asked for his sight to be restored and bam!nica he could see again.
I believe the only reason why the lame beggar at the Temple gate called Beautiful asked Peter and John for some coins was because he did not know who they were or what they contained. Acts 3:3. Had he known he would have straight up asked for healing.
God is not offended or amused by your bold prayers and requests. Bold prayers require divine intervention and that is what God specializes in. Parting seas and rivers, making the sun stand still, raising the dead, making an axe head float on water, multiplying a few loaves and fishes to feed a multitude, is His kind of thing.
So go ahead pray big and do not despair. “I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.” Mark 11:24. Jesus’s words, not mine.
Blessings.
