The One

When you have something good, you want to share right? There is nothing better than the gospel of Christ; the good news of salvation, that Christ died for us and whoever believes will have eternal life. As Christians we have a charge to share the gospel and bring as many as we can to Christ. Sometimes we fail to do this because we are shy or afraid of what people will say of or to us if we talk about Jesus.

Apostle Paul understood this obligation and took it seriously. He said in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”

In the popular parable of the lost sheep, Jesus demonstrated the importance of soul winning to the disgruntled Pharisees who chafed at His association with sinners. He told them that there so much rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. (Luke 15:7). Yes, that is how important winning souls is to God and should be to us.

We also are participants in the Great Commission to go into the world and make disciples. No need to hop on a plane to do that. Just start with your colleagues at school and work, your neighbor, your co-bus riders, anyone! What is the worst that can happen? The person might tell you they are not interested but at least you tried. All you need is one repented soul to kick start an angelic party in Heaven

Jesus said if you are ashamed of me, I will also be ashamed of you when I come in my glory. I pray that the Holy Spirit empowers us to boldly proclaim the gospel to those we encounter as we go about our lives. Amen.
