A Good Death

So last Wednesday during School of Faith (Bible Study) the issue of death and dying came up! And I find myself musing on it again! It is not the most comfortable of topics but since we are not immortal, it is something we will all come to at some point! Psalm 90:10 says in part “Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures;…”. It speaks of the inevitability of death and then Hebrews 9:27 tells us that more happens after death, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”.

The Bible makes us understand that life continues after death, that death is not a termination but a transition into another life, which lasts forever-eternity. As it is with everything, we get to choose where we will spend eternity-either in heaven or in hell. All of this can fill you with fear and dread or can set you thinking about how you are living your life here on earth.

If we begin to look at life here on earth as a preparation for the next life, it will change our perspective of life! Life here is transient, seventy years or eighty or even one hundred is not that long. This should fill us with a sense of urgency to live purposely, make an impact and do something worthwhile while we still have life and strength!

How you live here will determine where and how you live in eternity. If you know Christ as your savior, you are in a good place but you must work to store up treasure for yourself in heaven so that when you appear before the judgment seat of Christ, you will receive a good reward!

If you are living recklessly, ignoring the call of Christ to believe in Him and be born again, you are making a huge mistake. When you check out of this life, another begins and the afterlife is more important than the now! After all that life never ends…!

I want to encourage you “to live in the light of eternity”. Re-examine your values and re-order your priorities but most importantly give your life to Christ and if you already have, engage yourself actively in the Father’s business so you may receive eternal rewards! Be sure that when you die, it will be a good death. Happy Friday.

Blessings!

Love, Lady Monica ❤
