Priceless!
If Jesus was coming to church I would expect Him sit right up in front, on the seat of honor! Yet when He went into the temple on this day He chose to sit in the Court of Women, opposite the treasury where He could observe those putting in offerings. He really was not interested in how much they were giving but in their motives and attitudes towards the act.
As the rich folk came and threw in their big offerings haughtily as if they were doing God a favor, pretty proud of themselves, a poor widow also came along, “… and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.” Mark 12:42. Jesus commended her giving saying, …“Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on” Mark 12:43-44.
How is your giving? Not just money but your time, your gifts, your talents, etc. Sometimes we want to wait till we have enough money before we give for the work of God. We want to wait till we have enough spare time before we invest some in the kingdom. We want to wait till we are confident in our gifts and talents before we share with others or use to help in the church.
From this parable we see that God is not so much interested in the quantity you can give as He is in the quality of your worship. The widow had every reason to keep her few cents; she could have reasoned that it was not enough, it was not a respectful offering, she would have nothing else to live on etc., yet she chose to give what she had.
Whatever little time, money, skill you have, do not withhold it from God. He will still appreciate it if you offer it with the right attitude and the right motive. What you may think is worthless is priceless in His eyes.
Blessings.
